In recognition of Autism Awareness Month the ICDL would like to honor all of the parents in our ICDL community.  Having a child with special needs is often isolating and overwhelming.  Over the past eleven years as ICDL has grown, so has its group of creative and innovative parents.  The ICDL parent network grew before there was really an internet to share information easily. Many of the founding parents wanted to share what they had learned on their journey to make it easier for the next family whose child is diagnosed.  We pooled our resources together and wrote a resource guide entitled By Parents for Parents.  It is awe inspiring how many parents want to share their journey, their ideas and their support with one another.  In this edition of our e-newsletter we have articles from several parents who have done innovative work to help our children grow and to raise awareness in the general community.

There are many more creative happenings out there and we encourage you to share them with us and we will share them with our community.  We know of several parent blogs and information sites, of books and articles and of your daily dedication to all of our children, some of them posted in our parent resources page.  Let us continue the legacy of the founding parent group and continue to share resources and support one another by sending an email to info@icdl.com.
