Program Description:
The DIR® Institute offers this special program to a select group of participants who administer educational programs utilizing the principles and concepts of the DIR® model. The goals are to share experiences, learn how different programs function, discuss how to work with boards and deal with funding, problem solve together, and establish an ongoing working network to provide support, solutions and materials as we all strive to bring DIR® theory to practice in the classroom.
Several new schools start each year and it is invaluable to join the veteran DIR® schools who share their journeys and their new initiatives. Monthly phone conferences are held through out the school year to provide support, share materials and problem solve.
The program takes place during the first half of the DIR® Institute. Qualified participants who would like to pursue the DIR® Certificate are invited to do so during the second half at an additional fee and meet the requirements of these programs.
It will be the fourth year of the DIRA program. A DIR® Certificate for Administrators acknowledges schools which have met the criteria for using the DIR® mark.

DIR® A - Administrators Programs Features:
The unique feature of all DIR® educational programs is the small group case discussions. We will meet as one group some of the time and also break down to work groups on different issues. Each participant is also asked to show a short video clip of their program and present an Administrative Challenge to the group. These will be organized by themes and suggestions and recommendations are summarized together.
Each day begins with a model presentation by our faculty or facilitators which everyone at the Institute attends and we present school/education related presentations during the time you are attending. Then we move into our small DIRA discussion groups to present administrative challenge cases and video clips, facilitated by two faculties. Afternoons include various conversation hours, followed by small group meetings again. Evening panels follow dinner and are designed for the entire group and offer a choice of 2-3 options.
Cost and for the DIR® A - Administrators Program:
- Cost is $500 for half time. Attending DIRB or DIRC is additional.
- Application Submission Deadline: April 30, 2010
- Discounts do not apply to the DIRA.
