Student attendance policy Print this page Email this page to a friend!

The ICDL Graduate School offers the flexibility of completing a doctoral degree through self-paced distance learning, involving online-based courses as well as required and supervised practicum. However, successful completion of the offered program requires a high degree of discipline, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently, which are basic elements of adult learning.  Thus, student attendance will not be taken for online-based courses.

Nevertheless, students will need to complete a Practicum Hours Form for each practicum course, which should reflect the date and hours spent at the appropriate training sites, as well as the dates and number of hours for which the student received direct supervision from ICDL Graduate School faculty.  The form needs to be signed by the student, the PhD clinician (or researcher) supervising the student at the training site, and the ICDL Graduate School faculty supervisor. Students need to comply with the practicum site’s policies regarding record keeping of activities (e.g. number of clients seen, reports written, consultations, new referrals) and attendance.

Leave of Absence and Drop Out Policies

The ICDL Graduate School authorizes students to take up to a 6 month leave of absences. Students need to request a leave of absence in writing, at least 15 days before the date they intend to leave the program. The request should be submitted to the Dean of Academic Affairs, with a copy to their individual Faculty Facilitator. Tuition will not be charged during the leave of absence period. The ICDL Graduate School allows students to add or drop courses from their schedule without academic penalty for the first two weeks after classes start.
